The
Baggage Handling System is a type of conveyor
belt system installed in airports for the
purpose of transporting checked luggage
from the counter to the area where it will
be loaded onto the plane. It also does the
job of taking luggage as it comes off a
plane to baggage claim, or to be loaded
onto another plane.
The primary function of
the BHS is the transportation of luggage,
but it’s other main job is also
to make sure that the luggage gets to
the right location in the airport.

Functions of the BHS:
• Detects luggage
jams
• Volume regulation
• Load balance
• Bag counting
• Bag tracking
• Redirection of bags, via pusher
or diverter
• Merging of conveyor lines
