The Passenger Boarding Bridges is a system

to the plane. Each are made specifically

Each bridge is made to carry out a specific
requirement, and each have an intelligent
based PLC based control system that connects
it to the aircraft.

There are three choices when it comes
to Passenger Boarding Bridges:
The Apron Drive PBB- This type of bridge
provides a high level of flexibility.
This is useful when a stand in position
is to be used by a wide range of aircraft
in still elevation and door positions.
The Fixed Head Type PBB- This bridge
consists of a retractable tunnel section
. The unit can slide in and out of the
dock of the aircraft while the head of
the bridge is limited to level and rotate
the elevation of the aircraft. Since the
retractable tunnel is fixed, the aircraft
has to be located specifically so it can
be aligned with the head of the PBB.
The less common type of PBB is the “Cantilever”
or “Over the Wing” (OTW) Bridge.
It is similar to the Apron Drive. In this
bridge, the tunnel section is cantilevered
off the rotunda and this eliminates the
requirement for the ramp level wheel drive
unit. It allows access to the rear door
of the aircraft via the tunnel section
over the aircrafts wing.
