The Zortek Travel Agent Booking solution
was developed to provide Airlines with
an alternative solution for Travel Agents
to make ticket reservations and settlements
to be carried out without the high costs
associated with traditional GSA, CRS,
and BSP systems.
TAB is a version of Vid-Web for Airlines
to allow Travel Agents/Account Holders
to make bookings on a website, without
the need to input credit card details.
The web based product can be sued as a
standalone module for both travel agents
and corporate customers, or as an additional
module to the Vid-Web public Internet
booking Engine.
The bookings made on the Tab system are
recorded in a central database and held
for a given time span until the account
is either settled (i.e. via check payment
of other form) or the booking is canceled
and flights are returned to the itinerary.
Depending on how the travel agents account
is configured, online credit card payments
can be allowed. They are not required
at the time of booking, only as a payment
form when accounts are due to be settled.
Local fare rules /notes are held within
the system to allow airlines and their
consolidators to set pricing which may
be different to the fares by the host
reservation system.

Depending on the airline’s requirements,
there are two concepts of how internet
booking can be configured to allow different
types of users to gain access. For airlines
that allow the public to make bookings
over the internet, optional links may
be included on the Airline Home Page directing
the public to an “open” booking
engine. Travel agents are directed to
the TAB (travel agent booking) engine
with security authentication to allow
only authorized user access to the system.
Alternative homepages could be used to
keep Public and Travel Agent web sites
completely separate, again with security
access for Travel Agent bookings.
